April 2014 — In April 2014, Team SKS historians Florian Waitl, Gary Linhart, and Bill Darley led a 3-day staff ride for International Officers from the Command and General Staff College to the site of the Battle of Gettysburg. Often described as the turning point of the Civil War, the July 1-3, 1863 battle, serves as the backdrop for lessons in history, critical thinking, unit tactics, and leadership for mid-grade Army leaders.
In 2012, SKS entered into a contract with Engility Corp. to support the US Army Combat Studies Institute at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. The project includes conducting military historical design and facilitating staff rides across the United States and Europe focused on developing leaders, learning tactical skills, and applying historical lessons learned to modern day situations.
